About a dozen would-be home buyers and their real estate agents gathered at Prosperity Home Mortgage’s Community Outreach Center in Philadelphia on Sept. 7 for an educational seminar on the home-buying and lending process. Hosted by Prosperity’s Pam Russakoff, the event is one of the many invaluable programs that’s been offered at the center since its opening in early 2022.
“Access to financial education plays a critical role in closing the minority homeownership and generational wealth gap,” said Tim Wilson, president and CEO of Prosperity. “I believe we can help thousands of renters become homeowners through education, training, budgeting and on-going support—all of which our center offers, thanks to our national and local community partnerships.”
Located in an industrial building that has been converted into offices, Prosperity’s Community Outreach Center is easily accessible via public transportation and near parking. It features computer workstations, breakout rooms, a pantry and a large meeting space, which can accommodate up to 50 people. The space is designed for both in-person gatherings and virtual meetings, with state-of-the-art-technology for improved accessibility.
Several members of Prosperity’s team, including its local community loan officers, or CLOs, work from the center. They are available to answer questions about the financing process and get pre-approvals for those visitors ready to buy. In addition, Prosperity team member Armen Borrell, M.P.A., oversees the meeting and event calendar for the center, collaborating with area nonprofits, real estate agents and others who want to host educational training at the facility.
