On March 15th, Prosperity's Chief Compliance Officer, Matt Torres, and Chief Retail Production Officer, Brian Haug, traveled to Texas to join some of our Mortgage Consultants for a Habitat for Humanity event. Matt and Brian met up with Alex Parker, Cynthia Clark Holly, Dan Hansen, Debra Smith, Frank Sanchez, Jonathan Pugsley, Joshua McCarroll, Kheang Eung, Leslie Wertz, Niccole Booker, Rob Parham, Tammie Mitchell, Rudi McFarlane, and Jason Suber at the Dallas Habitat for Humanity Wall Shop. They spent the day framing exterior and interior walls for a Dallas Habitat homeowner. The new walls will be placed onsite and raised on the foundation to be constructed into a new home. The house will be built through the month of June in the historic Bonton neighborhood in southeast Dallas.
“As part of my job, I report on our company’s successes at helping increase homeownership opportunities across the diverse markets we serve, and as powerful as it is to see the progress we continue to make, it pales in comparison to getting out and putting hammer to nail in building real homes for people in need of decent and affordable housing,” said Torres. “I’m proud of our company for its overall commitment to housing equity, as well as its support and encouragement of our team to get involved and give back.”
Dallas Habitat transforms families, revitalizes neighborhoods, and is working together to build a better Dallas through affordable homeownership opportunities, financial education, advocacy efforts, and neighborhood empowerment programs. In 2022, they had a total number of 3,711 volunteers that contributed 45,476 volunteer hours. With the help of volunteers, sponsors and subcontractors, Dallas Habitat built 48 houses.
